Sad but true.

This is the type of summer we've had so far.

Quote: [A curious fellow died one day and found himself waiting in the long line of judgment. As he stood there he noticed that some souls were allowed to march right through the pearly gates into Heaven. Others though, were led over to Satan who threw them into the burning pit. But every so often, instead of hurling a poor soul into the fire, Satan would toss a soul off to one side into a small pile.

After watching Satan do this several times, the fellow's curiosity got the best of him. So he strolled over and asked Satan what he was doing. "Excuse me, Mr. Prince of Darkness," he said. "I'm waiting in line for judgment, but I couldn't help wondering, why are you tossing those people aside instead of flinging them into the Fires of Hell with the others?"

"Ah, those," Satan said with a groan. "They're all from Ontario.................. They're still too wet to burn."] Unquote. - Authour Unknown to me

Fortunately while it has rained nearly every day, there have been many days where there is a smidge of sun between the storm clouds. Apparently our pea plants feel that is sufficient. There are a couple of tomato flowers too, but they are waiting for sun and heat to really get going.

Also fortunately the Best Start Hub (there is a .pdf brochure for the one in Sioux just scroll down a ways) is a place in town where I can take Girly to go play that I like and Boyo does too.

Boyo is growing like crazy and beginning to teeth. Poor sweet boy, his little shirt fronts and bibs are usually soaked through. He is just a few ounces shy of double his birth weight which is really good since many babies don't reach that milestone until closer to 6 months. He's such a patient baby too. Once his limit is reached though, he can let out a holler like Girly never could.

We've managed to wander out on the few days where the rain isn't constant and even got in an entire afternoon at the beach. Girly is trying to find a plane in the sky. Seeing things that are up close look far away was more interesting though. Boyo loves to watch kids play in the water. He can't wait until he's old enough too.

The Mr. even got to take Girly, her cousin and Grandma out fishing for a few hours. The minnows were the most fun part of the whole trip. The Mr. caught a fish and so did Girly's cousin although her fish got away when Grandma accidentally set the hook in the Mr.'s finger while he was trying to get the line clear of the boat after taking the fish off of it.

There has not been much in the way of knitting. The grey days, bored Girly and teething (which makes Boyo want tons of snuggle time) means that Momma can only look at the needles and maybe get in a row or two late at night. Sadly, some of those rows must be taken back due to mistakes. Ah well, soon enough I'll be wishing I still had my Boyo snuggling on my lap and Girly snuggling next to me with a book. There are a lot of years left for me to knit. :)

  • sounds like a great summer to me down in parchy qld. you'll find the knitting time again. soon boyo will be on his first date, so enjoy it.

i think if the qlders were off to the pearly gates, we'd burn before we hit the fire like dried leaves.
