Knitting stuff and going on and on.

Resistance is Futile.

I spent this weekend teaching my niece how to knit. She had gotten a new camera and wanted a case to put it in and with that kind of motivation, she caught on very quickly.

She thought I would think it funny that she was taking pictures of her knitting.

These are her rows and her cast on. Pretty darn good. There were the odd bits here and there, but if ever you are teaching someone to knit, through the back loop is really easy to for them to learn and you can always teach them through the front loop later. She did great especially since she was holding Berroco's Mosaic FX and Twilleys of Stamford Freedom Wool together.

We took a break and since it was the local Blueberry Festival we took Girly down to the beach and had a bit of a laugh watching her giggle her way through an airbrush tattoo and dance while a clown and friend were putting on a show.

We knit late into the night and the next day. She did about half of the project and I did the other half. Mostly so she could have a finished project without getting discouraged. Then we soaked it, soaped it and whipped it into the dryer for some felting. A bit of sewing (she did all of that) and voila! A cute little bag to tuck her camera into. The strap is in the dryer felting down during this picture.

Pretty darn good weekend, if you ask me and it isn't over yet. Today is a Civic Holiday and we are heading out to the beach again for the Firefighter's parade and a ride on a CN train engine.

  • Great work! Another addict is born. ;) Her stitches look quite good -- what a bold one to try to learn holding two strands together! The finished bag looks great and will surely be quite useful. In fact, I may just have to make me one of those!

  • Always great to see you spreading the knitting love. :0) I grew up in Piney, Manitoba, and we had an annual Blueberry Festival, too!
