Knitting stuff and going on and on.

Busy weekend doesn't quite cover it.

Friday there was another lovely gift from Suzanne in the post. Beautiful, beautiful yarns. 6 balls of Butterfly Super 10 Mercerized cotton (3 green, 3 blue) just the right amount for a couple of summer cardigans for Girly. I've already started on the green one. Also in the box, 6 balls of Marks and Kattens Fantasi. Girly saw them and decided that pink puppy could stay in the car. She wanted to carry one of them instead. I've started a sweater for her with it too.
Thank you Suzanne, I feel spoiled rotten!

My corner got sorted and reorganized on Friday afternoon and although I found a box worth of stuff to send off, I still have more than I thought I did. I think it's time for me to skip buying more yarn for myself and concentrate on buying tools of the trade and books for a while. I have a lot of projects already in mind and don't need to worry about what I'm going to knit next. So, no more yarn until I get at least half of the projects in the works/my mind finished.

The box of stuff to go to the seniors. I am so glad they love acrylics best. That is a full box of acrylics. Most of it is the stuff I got from a friend (it was left in the attic of their house when they bought it) for free so the gift isn't being wasted. 14" Needles and child for scale.

That was Friday. Over the past week, the dog had been sleeping a lot more than was normal for him, he wasn't eating much and he was peeing more than he was drinking. By Friday I was getting worried about him and on Saturday, I knew he had to go to the vet. Something was really wrong. I was freaked about it too since he had gotten three packets of the recalled dog food before they pulled it off the shelves and it hit the news. The poor Mr. came home from Thunder Bay, got a kiss, a Happy Birthday here's a couple of cards, we have to take Apollo to the vet right now, he's waiting for us. It turns out Apollo has Addison's Disease. He got about 2lbs of fluids IV'd into him and some meds (he has to be on them for the rest of his life) and was almost instantly a changed dog. Of course after that much fluid, my carpet got peed on a few times that night. Fortunately he is recovering nicely so far although the meds will have to be tweaked a bit here and there just like any other life long disease.

It was a bit late by the time we got home, but we made a cake anyway. Carrot cake since that is a favourite in our house.

Daddy got a little help blowing out his candle. Girly even got out her guitar and sang Happy Birthday to Daddy. Awww!

He opened the tent he bought with his birthday money. It was a bit furry and oddly shaped, but he's pretty sure once he gets it stretched out, it will be nice and warm.

I managed to finish the "I'm bigger than I thought I was" inserts for Invested. I cast on twelve stitches and worked 2 garter stitches on either side, a spacer row of stockinette on either side and two repeats of the open cable. The armholes are probably not going to sit as snug around my arms as they would have if I done the pattern as written in the right size though. Ah well, vests are worn over shirts so I don't have to worry about the bra hanging out. Now to finish it. Anyone want to come and sew it up for me?

  • Glad to hear Apollo is ok, such a fright for you.
Happy belated birthday to your man.
I am sure that vest will work out just fine, and look good on too.

Glad to hear Apollo is doing better!

... when I first read your photo captions, I thought you said "child for sale" and I just thought to myself ... "I've had days like that!!"

  • Let's hear it for your engineering sensibilities! The vest is going to be great. For seaming, I like the Knitter's Companion descriptions. Regarding the yarn, I enjoy spoiling you! I didn't know the Fantasi stuff would look so cool knit up! The Butterfly cotton just gets softer with every washing. Be warned that cotton is not so elastic and will grow inconveniently. I am not sure how to best account for this when making sweaters, though.
