Still here! Still big, uncomfortable and totally spaced out. Now on vacation which will turn into Maternity/Parental Leave though. I am finally beginning to feel semi-rested which is helping a great deal. With March Break here I'll actually have a week where I don't have to go anywhere unless I decide getting out of the house would be a good thing. So nice!
Why we don't call March Break - Spring Break. Not much spring like yet especially since we also got nailed with some bitter cold along with this snowstorm.
She can use the snowbank from having our drive plowed as a sledding hill.
I'm hoping there will be a few indoor pursuits this week as well as some of the outdoor ones. Like knitting...
...and gardening?! Apparently you can get a pumpkin vine to get quite large inside.
I did managed to finish a scarf in all the time since I last blogged. Not much else until I finished working though. Apparently even a desk job can really take it out of you at this stage.
Here is
"My Eye's on You". This was designed for my ISE 7 Pal. [Click to enlarge so you can see the cables.]
Materials: 240 m (264 yds) Worsted Weight yarn - in this case, Brown Sheep Handpaint Originals
10 mm (US 15) knitting needles
9 mm - N Crochet hook
Tapestry Needle
Pattern:Cast on 20 stitches and work in stockinette the entire scarf. Add cables here and there. Wherever strikes your fancy.
The Cables:Row 1: Cable 4 Front (hold 2 sts in front, knit 2, knit the 2 in front)
Row 2: Purl
Row 3: Cable 3 Back-p (hold 1 st in back, knit 2,
purl the 1 in back, Cable 3 Front-p (hold 2 sts in front,
purl 1, knit the 2 sts in front)
Row 4: Purl the purls, knit the knits.
Row 5: Cable 3 Front-k (hold 2 sts in front,
knit 1, knit the 2 in front), Cable 3 Back-k (hold 1 st in back, knit 2, knit the 1 in back)
Row 6: Purl
Row 7: Cable 4 Front (same as Row 1)
Once you are at a length that makes you happy - in this case - 2 skeins worth (160 m - 176 yds), bind off and weave in all ends.
Using the crochet hook, single crochet two rows on each side of the scarf. Weave in ends.
Then cut fringe to length - I wanted a long fringe so that's what I did. I forget how long each piece was now. Add to each end of the scarf and enjoy!
From my ISE 7 pal, Allison (so sorry, I don't know if you have a blog), I received this lovely. So light, so pretty!
She also included these little cuties and treats. I love the booties so much! They are a pattern I've been looking at trying myself. They are in a beautiful blue green that is perfect for either boy or girl. The blanket they are pictured on was made by a lady I've known since childhood. She's 96 and she makes blankets like this in nearly no time at all. She's one of the ladies you hope to be at that age. Active, sharp as a tack and can still make lovely things like this blanket. The blanket was part of the gifts from my co-workers as my Baby Shower. A really great and generous bunch. Next time, I'll show you what they gave me.
There was a postcard with a picture of a cardinal sitting outside her window and a cute card with a cross stitch insert too, but apparently my Placenta Brain struck again and I forgot to include them in the photo.
