Knitting stuff and going on and on.

Comfort and colour.

I was about to swear off sweaters and be happy about it until the Mr. started hinting that he would love to have a nice wool hunting sweater. He wants this one, but I told him if I spent that much money and time on a sweater for him and he came home with blood on it, I would have to cry. A lot. So we settled on this one as a hunting sweater. I'm using Briggs and Little's Super instead of the Bulky Lopi that way the whole thing only cost about $40.00. I will eventually make him the Fair Isle as a good sweater for his non-hunting days off. For some reason, to me, there is nothing so comfortable looking as a grey sweater.

Flounce is nearly done. I have to finish the last strap, add a small bit to the back with some buttonholes and weave in the ends. Girly thought it was great fun trying it on here and there. She sure loves helping Momma.

Things outside are getting more and more colourful.

Driving down the highway is a feast for the eyes and hopefully I can drive it again soon with a working camera to show you. In the meantime, with the crazy misty humidity yesterday and the cold bit of drizzle going on today, this is about as close to a walk as we'll get.

Walk softly with me Wednesday.

Strange things happen as the sun is going down.

Things that will make an old man's beard shiver in fright.

Men of ice begin to form along the pathways

Angel outlines appear in the banks and drifts.

Little elves run about in shutter frenzied glee.

Laughter echoes through bubbled water.

Strange things happen when the sun goes down.

Dear God,

Your sunrises are beautiful, but tomorrow could you get my Girly to sleep in too late to see it? If that is not in the cards, could she, the cats and the dog please sleep through the night and not wake up until the sun is rising? I really want to try actually walking on Wednesdays or once a week.

Also, please bless my Secret Pal who finds and sends me such cute stuff. Like this garland kit, needle sheath, stitch marker, card and chocolate from this Etsy shop.

Thank you for pretty things in the snow. Thank you also that it collects loose fur from the dog and keeps it from making the tumblefurs in my house larger than they already are.

Thank you for helping my needles to speed along while I was waiting for Girly to fall asleep at 10:30 at night. My feelings would not be hurt if I was unable to knit that late tonight due to things like sleeping and possibly snoring.

Thank you for showing me a bit of nature that vaguely resembles the knitting. If you could help me find the perfect blue white yarn to knit that pattern again, I would be even more grateful. Thank you.

Amen.

"Walk" with me Wednesday

My Red Scarf isn't making me happy. I love how it looks, but the feel of it. Oy, it's like crepe paper. I don't know if I should continue and hope that it will soften in a conditioner wash or rip and try different yarns.

Finished one side of the purse. One more then the back, bottom and straps. Good thing it's a pretty fast knit. Too bad I have to wait until I can get more yarn for it.

Due to the temperature drop this week that has made my front door look like this all over and my perpetual weenie-ness, I have gone through my archives for pictures taken on wanders around my yarn during the less cold times.
My Tamarack in the front yard is covered with babies and buds.
A dying birch in the back yard by the service road.
Ontario's underbrush. Movies that show people jaunting happily through the woods with no interference from underbrush always make me laugh.
I switched to the new Blogger yesterday and got weirded out this morning when I had totally forgotten that I had switched. It's nice to be able to see your pictures without having to hit preview, but I wish the window was a little bigger. It seems smaller somehow with actual pictures in the post instead of html code.

I've joined Project Spectrum this year and I hope to be able to go through my stash and find all my blues, greys and whites for the first two months. I'll post pictures of it tomorrow. Don't laugh at the meagerness of it. Unless I am surprised and there is more there than I thought.
